Experienced Elevator Repair Technician / AdjusterPosition Overview
Advantage Elevator is seeking a highly experienced Elevator Repair Technician / Adjuster to join our growing team in Southern California.
We are looking for a seasoned elevator professional with 10+ years of industry experience who is highly skilled in troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, and modernization of elevator and accessibility equipment.
This is a senior-level field position for someone who can independently diagnose difficult mechanical, electrical, and control-related problems and see repairs through to completion.
Out-of-state candidates are encouraged to apply. Relocation assistance is available, and we will assist qualified candidates with obtaining the appropriate California certification/licensing.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and control-system issues.
  • Troubleshoot intermittent and difficult-to-identify elevator faults.
  • Perform elevator adjustments, testing, and corrective repairs.
  • Troubleshoot controllers, drive systems, door operators, interlocks, selectors, safety circuits, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Perform major repairs and component replacement as required.
  • Assist with modernization, startup, adjustment, and troubleshooting of new and existing equipment.
  • Work directly with manufacturer technical support when necessary to resolve complex issues.
  • Identify root causes rather than relying on temporary resets or repeated service calls.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, job notes, and repair recommendations.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, manufacturers, and office staff.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and professional jobsites.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of elevator industry experience required.
  • Extensive experience in elevator troubleshooting, repair, and adjustment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot complex and intermittent problems.
  • Strong understanding of elevator controllers, safety circuits, door systems, drive systems, and related components.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Residential elevator and accessibility equipment experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Savaria, Garaventa, and similar equipment is a plus.
  • California CCCM certification is preferred but not required for qualified out-of-state candidates.
  • Candidates relocating to California must be willing and eligible to obtain required California certification.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Professional appearance, strong communication skills, and a customer-focused attitude.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 125 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, meters, diagnostic equipment, and other elevator service tools.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $45.00–$60.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
  • Company vehicle.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • SIMPLE IRA with company match.
  • Paid holidays and paid time off.
  • Ongoing technical and manufacturer training.
  • Stable, year-round work.
  • Opportunity to play a key technical role with a growing Southern California elevator company.
Relocating to California?
We encourage experienced elevator mechanics and adjusters from outside California to apply.
A current California CCCM certification is not required to apply. For the right candidate, Advantage Elevator will assist with relocation and the process of obtaining the appropriate California certification.
If you have the experience and technical ability to diagnose the problems that others struggle to solve, we want to hear from you.
