WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will take hands-on ownership of avionics design and execution on an active vehicle development program. This includes everything from system architecture through hardware design and documentation. You will work closely with leadership and contribute directly to getting the vehicle to its next milestone.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You are a senior avionics or electrical engineer with spacecraft hardware experience. You are full-stack or close to it โ power, communications, digital systems, or some combination. You have designed flight hardware, not just tested or maintained it. You can read a schematic, write a requirement, and review a board layout. You move fast, communicate clearly, and do not need to be managed.
Cohorts of two to three engineers with complementary specializations are actively encouraged to apply together.
You are a collaborative builder, not a disruptor. You thrive in lean environments where ownership is high and bureaucracy is low.
SpaceX or similar pedigree.ย

About AdAstra Reserve
This role is being placed through AdAstra Reserve, a fractional talent program operated by AdAstra.
AdAstra Reserve was built around a simple observation: the best engineers in hardtech do not always want a traditional full-time job. Some have recently retired from major programs and are not ready to stop building. Some want to take on focused, meaningful work between chapters of their career. Some want to contribute to a mission they believe in without signing a five-year lease on their life.
Reserve connects those engineers with high-growth space companies that need their skills now โ not in six months after a drawn-out hiring process. Engagements are structured as defined sprints (full-time for a project) or ongoing fractional arrangements (part-time on a set number of hours per week). There is no commitment beyond the agreed scope, and many engagements lead to full-time opportunities for candidates who want them.
If you are a high-caliber engineer who has built and shipped real hardware in new space or adjacent fields and this sounds like a model that fits your life, we would love to talk to you โ whether or not a specific posting above is the right fit right now.
At AdAstra, we catalyze the innovations that future generations depend on by placing the right people in the right seats. Our dedicated work enables inconceivable technology from Earth, to the stars. And itโs all because of trailblazing talent like you - those driven to do whatโs never been done before. We care about long term relationships with both candidates and companies.ย
