Job description

Overview

Acuity, Inc. has an opening for a ServiceNow Platform Architect to support a highly visible federal client's enterprise ServiceNow platform modernization initiative. The role leads platform assessment, architectural remediation, and enterprise transformation of the agency's ServiceNow environment.

The architect evaluates the current platform implementation, identifies customization-driven technical debt, and defines a sustainable configuration‑first architecture aligned with ServiceNow best practices, CSDM service modeling, and modern IT service management.

Working closely with government leadership, platform stakeholders, and engineering teams, the architect assesses the current environment, defines the target platform architecture, and guides implementation of the modernization roadmap.

Responsibilities

The Platform Architect will work with a multidisciplinary ServiceNow team to assess, architect, and modernize the enterprise platform. The individual will:

  • Lead architectural assessment of the existing ServiceNow platform, including capabilities, customization patterns, workflows, data models, and integration dependencies.
  • Analyze customization-driven technical debt across custom tables, scripts, workflows, and platform applications impacting upgrade readiness, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate alignment with ServiceNow architectural best practices, including configuration-first delivery models, CSDM adoption, and standardized ITSM processes.
  • Define the target ServiceNow platform architecture including service taxonomy, service catalog structure, CMDB design, and platform governance standards.
  • Design and guide implementation of CSDM-aligned CMDB architecture supporting service ownership, impact analysis, service mapping, and operational visibility.
  • Lead architecture across core platform capabilities including ITSM, Employee Center, enterprise service catalog, integrations, and platform applications.
  • Define integration architecture and oversee data integrations between ServiceNow and external enterprise systems.
  • Guide configuration standards, development patterns, and governance controls that reduce customization and maintain long-term upgrade compatibility.
  • Collaborate with functional leads, developers, and government stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Support development of modernization roadmaps, migration sequencing strategies, and architectural decision frameworks.
  • Provide architectural oversight during implementation including design reviews, technical governance, and quality assurance.
  • Maintain architecture documentation including platform architecture diagrams, integration architecture, data models, and technical standards.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience serving as a ServiceNow Platform Architect or Lead Architect supporting enterprise implementations or platform modernization.
  • Deep expertise across core ServiceNow capabilities including ITSM, service catalog, CMDB, and platform governance.
  • Strong experience designing CMDB architectures aligned to the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
  • Experience assessing and remediating heavily customized ServiceNow environments.
  • Experience defining configuration-first delivery models and reducing customization-driven technical debt.
  • Experience designing enterprise integrations between ServiceNow and external systems.
  • Experience leading platform architecture within Agile or iterative delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture including data models, workflows, integrations, and extensibility patterns.
  • Ability to guide enterprise stakeholders through platform modernization and architectural decision-making.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator.
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer.
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (preferred).
Clearance Requirement
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a federal public trust clearance
