Job description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and expert care in obstetrics and nursery nursing. This role offers the opportunity to deliver direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process with clinical competence and adherence to professional ethical standards.
General Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care, including medication administration, patient and family education, and nursing interventions tailored to the obstetrics and nursery setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established safety protocols such as infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a safe care environment.
  • Manage and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
  • Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Engage with patients and families to provide timely education and enhance the overall patient experience.
  • Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills and knowledge.
Education
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
Experience
At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.
Certification and Licensure
  • Current RN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
  • Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
