Job description

Aviation Composite Technician

Aviation Propellers, Inc. — Opa-locka, Florida
Full-Time

About the Position

Aviation Propellers, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Composite Technician to join our team in Opa-locka, Florida.

We are looking for candidates with hands-on experience working with composite materials, fiberglass, resins, structural repairs, and finishing processes. Previous aviation experience is preferred; however, we strongly encourage experienced marine composite and fiberglass technicians to apply. Many of the skills used in marine composite repair transfer well to aviation, and we are willing to train the right candidate on aviation-specific requirements and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform composite inspection, repair, fabrication, and finishing work.
  • Work with fiberglass, carbon fiber, resins, adhesives, fillers, and other composite materials.
  • Prepare damaged areas for structural and cosmetic repairs.
  • Perform layups, bonding, sanding, grinding, filling, shaping, and finishing.
  • Follow approved repair procedures, technical data, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Accurately measure, mix, and apply resins, adhesives, and other materials.
  • Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, sanders, grinders, and other shop equipment.
  • Maintain accurate work documentation.
  • Follow company quality standards and FAA-regulated procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious work area.
  • Work closely with inspectors, technicians, and supervisors to ensure repairs meet required specifications.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Aviation composite repair
  • Marine fiberglass or composite repair
  • Boat building or yacht repair
  • Fiberglass fabrication
  • Carbon fiber repair or fabrication
  • Structural composite repair
  • Composite layup and bonding
  • Gelcoat, filler, sanding, shaping, or finishing work

Additional qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures and technical instructions.
  • Comfortable working with precision measurements and hand tools.
  • Ability to produce consistent, high-quality workmanship.
  • Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous FAA repair station or aviation experience is a plus, but not required for candidates with strong transferable composite experience.

Marine Composite Technicians — We Want to Hear From You

If you currently work on boats, yachts, marine fiberglass, or composite structures and are interested in transitioning into the aviation industry, we encourage you to apply.

Your experience with fiberglass repair, composite layup, bonding, structural repairs, sanding, shaping, and finishing can provide an excellent foundation for aviation composite work. Aviation Propellers, Inc. is willing to provide aviation-specific training to qualified candidates with strong marine composite skills.

Why Join Aviation Propellers, Inc.?

Aviation Propellers, Inc. has been serving the aviation industry for more than 55 years. Our Opa-locka facility provides an opportunity to build a long-term career in a specialized aviation maintenance environment while developing valuable technical skills.

We are looking for people who take pride in craftsmanship, want to learn, and value producing quality work.

Location: Opa-locka, Florida
Position: Full-Time, In-Person
Industry: Aviation Maintenance / Repair & Overhaul (MRO)

Experienced marine composite and fiberglass technicians are encouraged to apply.
