Job description

Overview:

The internship will support AAR-funded C&TC programs including Positive Train Control (PTC), Interoperable Lifecycle Management (ILM), Train Control, Communications and Operations (TCCO) Research, and Wireless Communications Committee (WCC) Research.

Projects (The intern will be responsible for one or more of the following):

  • PTC ILM: Precision Navigation Module (PNM) Data Analysis Support
    • Data review and analysis, data processing, and statistical analysis
  • PTC ILM: General Program Support
    • Exposure to systems engineering, safety engineering, and requirements management tools
  • TCCO Onboard Sensor Testing and Analysis
    • Onboard sensor test prep, execution, and data analysis support
  • TCCO Requirements and Standards Support
    • Exposure to train control and energy management systems/standards through requirements QC and redlines
  • WCC Radio/Application Lab Testing Support
    • Execution of tests in MxV Rail radio lab

Preferred Level of Education:

Working on a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a similar field.

Primary Responsibilities (intern will be responsible for one or more of the following):

  • Support of lab and field test planning and execution for onboard sensors, radios, and wireless communications applications.
  • Data review and analysis of test results from Precision Navigation Module (PNM) and onboard sensor testing.
  • Support of requirements engineering for PTC, Energy Management, and Locomotive Electronics standards.
  • Other duties in the areas of PTC systems and safety engineering, train control research, and wireless communications research.
  • Ensure that all duties and responsibilities are performed in a safe manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
