Job description

Our Cary, NC office is adding a Senior Mechanical Designer to the team. The Sr. Mechanical Designer will work closely with Lead Engineers to design mechanical systems for Biotech and Pharmaceutical and Semiconductor clients. The Senior Mechanical Designer is responsible for specific aspects of an assigned project, including evaluation, recommendation, and investigation of solutions that best meet the client's needs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with design and technical teams, including the Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Architects, and Project Specialists, while supporting the development of design deliverables, such as Construction drawings, specifications, surveys, reports, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Design HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems and other major mechanical equipment for high technology facilities including pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, and electronics manufacturing.
  • Ensure the proper application of industry standard practices and innovations relating to energy efficiency, utilities, HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems design.
  • Oversee the performance of heating & cooling load calculations using building simulation software.
  • Oversee the performance of liquid and gas pipe network modeling using PIPE-FLO fluid flow analysis software to design and analyze fluid piping systems.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate piping system stress analysis software to determine weight, pressure, temperature, & earthquake impacts on system design.
  • Visit client sites to obtain relevant information.
  • Interact with equipment vendors to coordinate design work.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 10-15 years minimum piping, HVAC and Plumbing design experience
  • Microsoft Office including proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with design software such as Plant3D, AutoCAD, Inventor, Bluebeam, Navisworks and Autodesk Revit/BIM
  • Experience working with facility mechanical engineering drawings.
