Role Description This full-time Associate Attorney role is a hybrid position based in Fredericksburg, VA, with some flexibility for work from home. The Associate Attorney will handle a varied caseload, including advising clients, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and conducting legal research. Daily responsibilities include analyzing case facts and law, preparing memoranda and pleadings, participating in negotiations, and communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and relevant agencies. The role also involves supporting litigation and administrative matters, attending hearings or mediations as needed, and collaborating with partners and other team members to develop case strategy. The Associate Attorney is expected to manage deadlines, maintain accurate files, and uphold ethical and professional standards in all work.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong foundational skills in Law, including legal analysis, application of statutes and case law, and drafting legal documents.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Labor and Employment Law, including familiarity with workplace regulations, employment policies, and dispute resolution in employment settings.
  • Candidates should possess Legal Advice and Negotiation skills to counsel clients effectively, evaluate options, and advocate for favorable outcomes in settlements and agreements.
  • Candidates should possess solid Research skills, including proficiency with legal research tools, case law review, and preparation of clear, well-supported memoranda.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in Virginia, or eligibility for prompt admission.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ethical judgment, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
  • Prior experience in labor and employment or related practice areas is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and develop specialized expertise is essential.
