Job description

Director, Financial Analysis, Accounting and Finance

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead financial analysis, forecasting, profitability reporting, and pharmacy claims economics across the organization.

This role will serve as a key member of the Finance team and will be responsible for developing the financial models, reporting, controls, and analytics necessary to understand and improve company, client, and product-level financial performance.

The ideal candidate combines strong traditional FP&A capabilities with the ability to work directly with large pharmacy claims and transactional datasets. This individual should be comfortable moving between executive-level financial reporting and detailed claim-level analysis to understand what is driving financial results.

This is a hands-on director role. The successful candidate will be expected to independently perform complex analysis while helping build scalable financial processes, reporting, and analytics capabilities as the organization grows.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

· Own and manage the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.

· Develop and maintain company financial forecasts, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, EBITDA, and cash flow.

· Lead monthly and quarterly budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis.

· Identify the underlying operational and financial drivers of company performance.

· Develop scenario and sensitivity models to support strategic and operational decisions.

· Prepare financial reporting, dashboards, and presentations for executive leadership.

· Establish and monitor financial KPIs across the organization.

· Continuously improve forecasting accuracy and financial visibility.

PBM & Pharmacy Claims Financial Analytics

· Own financial analysis of pharmacy claims and related transaction activity.

· Analyze claim-level economics including ingredient cost, pharmacy reimbursement, member cost share, discounts, administrative fees, manufacturer funding, and other revenue and expense components.

· Monitor claim volume, drug spend, revenue per claim, cost per claim, gross margin per claim, and other key PBM financial metrics.

· Analyze performance by client, product, program, pharmacy, network, drug, and other relevant dimensions.

· Identify unusual trends, anomalies, financial leakage, or discrepancies within claims and financial data.

· Develop methodologies for reconciling expected claim economics against actual financial results.

· Partner with Operations and Technology to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.

Client & Product Profitability

· Own the development and ongoing maintenance of client-level and product-level profitability reporting.

· Establish methodologies for allocating revenue and costs to accurately measure contribution margin.

· Monitor actual client financial performance against contractual terms, pricing assumptions, and forecasts.

· Identify clients, products, or programs performing above or below financial expectations.

· Develop financial models for new products, partnerships, clients, and strategic initiatives.

· Evaluate the financial impact of changes in utilization, pricing, reimbursement, funding, and program design.

· Provide recommendations to leadership for improving profitability and financial performance.

Financial Controls & Reconciliation

· Develop and maintain financial controls around pharmacy claims, client billing, payments, funding, and other transaction activity.

· Oversee reconciliation of claims platforms, billing systems, payment files, bank activity, and accounting records.

· Identify missing revenue, duplicate payments, incorrect pricing, funding discrepancies, and other potential financial leakage.

· Partner closely with Accounting during monthly close to validate revenue, expenses, accruals, and other financial activity.

· Develop scalable reconciliation processes as transaction volume and client complexity increase.

· Ensure financial analyses and management reporting reconcile appropriately to the company's financial statements.

Management Reporting & Business Intelligence

· Build and own recurring financial and operational management reporting.

· Develop dashboards that provide leadership with visibility into revenue, margin, utilization, client profitability, product performance, and other key metrics.

· Automate recurring reporting and financial analyses wherever possible.

· Establish consistent definitions and methodologies for financial KPIs across the organization.

· Translate complex financial and claims data into clear conclusions and actionable recommendations.

· Present findings and recommendations directly to senior and executive leadership.

Strategic & Commercial Support

· Provide financial analysis supporting new business opportunities, partnerships, products, and strategic initiatives.

· Partner with Sales and leadership to evaluate pricing and economics for significant opportunities.

· Review contractual financial terms and evaluate their potential impact on revenue, margin, and cash flow.

· Develop business cases and ROI analyses for major investments and initiatives.

· Support financial due diligence and other strategic projects as needed.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

· Serve as a key financial partner to Accounting, Operations, Product, Technology/Data, Account Management, and Sales.

· Establish financial processes and reporting standards across the organization.

· Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities and bring recommendations to leadership.

· Help build and develop the Finance analytics function as the organization grows.

· Manage and mentor Financial Analysts as the team expands.

· Promote a culture of financial accountability, data accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Analytics, or a related field.

· Understanding of PBM financial components including ingredient cost, pharmacy reimbursement, member cost share, network discounts, rebates, administrative fees, and other claim-level economics.

· SQL proficiency with the ability to independently query and analyze large datasets.
