We are working with an AI-powered consumer e-learning platform on a mission to make skill-building genuinely credible - not just another course completion certificate. They're a small, well-funded team working directly with two technical founders, and they're hiring their 4th engineer to help shape the product from the ground up.

About the Role

This is a founding-team, staff-level role for someone who wants outsized ownership and is energized by ambiguity. As Engineer #4, you'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founders on core product decisions - not just execution - and you'll be one of the first engineering voices in the room as they figure out what's next.

They're currently tackling one of their hardest and most interesting problems: skill authentication. How do you prove someone actually learned something, in a way that's meaningful to both the learner and the market? If that kind of problem gets you excited rather than overwhelmed, let's talk.

What You'll Do

• Own consumer-facing product features end-to-end - from concept and design collaboration through architecture, build, ship, and iterate
• Work directly with founders and a small, fast-moving team to shape product direction, not just implement specs
• Build and ship AI-powered features into production
• Move fast in a high-ambiguity environment where the roadmap is still being written
• Help set technical and product standards as an early, influential engineering hire

What We're Looking For

• Strong track record building and shipping consumer-facing products - you understand end users, not just enterprise buyers or internal stakeholders
• Genuine end-to-end ownership experience: you've taken a feature or product from idea to production, not just tickets from a backlog
• A full-stack or product-engineering mindset - comfortable across the stack and in the room with product and design, not siloed into backend/infra
• Experience building or shipping AI-powered features is a strong plus
• Startup instincts: self-directed, ships fast, validates in the real world rather than waiting for full sign-off
• Genuine excitement about education, learning, and skill development - this isn't just a job for them, and they're looking for people who feel that too

Logistics

• Based in Austin, TX - this is a 5-day onsite role working directly alongside the founding team
• Compensation: up to $250K base + meaningful equity
