Job description

Company Description Advanced Cable Solutions, Inc. (ACS) is a low voltage integration contractor specializing in the design, installation, and integration of systems such as structured cabling, audiovisual, fire alarm, life safety, electronic security, public address, mass notification, and distributed antenna systems. Based in Valencia, California, ACS has served private and public-sector clients across Southern California since 2003, including education, government, healthcare, high-rise, corporate, and military projects. The company is a signatory contractor with the IBEW Southern California, 9th District Sound & Communications Union and holds California State C-7 (Low Voltage) and C-10 (Electrical) licenses. Role Description The Low Voltage Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Santa Clarita, CA. This role is responsible for designing low voltage systems, including structured cabling, audiovisual, fire alarm, life safety, security, public address, and related technologies for commercial, institutional, and government projects. Day-to-day activities include reviewing project specifications and drawings, developing detailed system designs and layouts, preparing drawings and documentation, and coordinating with project managers, field technicians, and clients to ensure designs meet code, performance, and budget requirements. The designer collaborates with estimators to support bids, provides technical input during installation, and assists with design revisions and as-built documentation. This position requires close adherence to company standards, safety practices, and project timelines while maintaining clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.


Qualifications

  • Certified CAD Training or equivalent experience 2+year experience in Drafting/CAD experience.
  • CTS or CTS-D certifications preferred. Previous experience in low voltage industry preferred.
  • Must be able to complete projects start to finish, while working independently. Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) experience with, and working knowledge of, REVIT, BIM, Bluebeam preferred. Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Certified CAD Proficiency in low voltage system design, including structured cabling, audiovisual, fire alarm, life safety, and integrated electronic security.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, and project specifications, and translate them into detailed low voltage designs.
  • Experience with CAD or similar design software, basic computer skills, and familiarity with industry design tools and documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, low voltage regulations, fire and life safety codes) and best practices for commercial installations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills to develop practical and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, field staff, and clients.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Prior experience in low voltage contracting, electrical design, or a related field; vocational training or an associate


Primary Responsibilities

  • Produce low voltage system installation drawings including floor plans, riser diagrams, details, and layouts using PC based AutoCAD program
  • Assist systems engineers with low voltage design and drafting assignments.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Ensure assignment requirements, expectations and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare product data submittals
  • Prepare operations and maintenance manuals
  • Performs other related document and drawing tasks as assigned.
  • Possess a good sense of coordination and follows through. Able to work in close contact with the entire design team
  • Performs technical administrative support tasks as needed.
  • Possess strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Organize and maintain engineering project folders.
  • Prepare RFI's
  • Prepare as-built drawings

Compensation

Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000 Annual Salary (DOE)

ACS offers a competitive compensation package based on experience, technical expertise, certifications, and overall qualifications. Candidates with strong AutoCAD/Revit skills, low-voltage systems design experience, and industry certifications may qualify for compensation at the higher end of the range. Compensation will be determined in accordance with California Pay Transparency requirements.
