Description
A-1 Electrical Contractors, Inc. is expanding its electrical specialists team and is seeking an experienced commercial electrical foreman to lead crews on new commercial construction and large-scale commercial projects throughout the Baton Rouge, LA area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Crew Leadership: Direct and guide crew members throughout the job, assign and oversee daily work, and help field managers keep projects on track with minimal supervision.
Project Execution: Run medium to large commercial projects, coordinating manpower, materials, and other trades to keep rough-in and finish work on schedule.
Electrical Installations: Install and oversee installation of panels, outlets, switches, lighting, circuit breakers, conduit, and wiring for high and low voltage systems, working from blueprints and specifications and in compliance with the National Electrical Code and local codes.
Maintenance and Repairs: Maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical system equipment and components; diagnose outages, faulty circuits, and malfunctioning equipment.
Testing and Inspection: Conduct tests and inspections using specialized tools and equipment to measure voltage, current, and resistance and to verify performance and code compliance.
Safety Compliance: Enforce all company, OSHA, and site-specific safety guidelines with the crew, correct unsafe conditions, and ensure PPE, including a respirator, is worn when required.
Jobsite Coordination: Communicate clearly with project managers, general contractors, and other trades on progress, manpower needs, and issues affecting schedule. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience running medium to large projects, with previous crew management experience.
• Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes, the ability to read blueprints, and knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to comply with a criminal background check and drug test.
PREFERRED
• 5+ years of commercial electrical experience.
• OSHA 10, TWIC, OSHA Basic Plus, and lift certifications.
• Completed electrician apprenticeship and licensed Journeyman Electrician as required by the State of Louisiana and local jurisdictions.
POSITION AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Extended hours that vary by job and site, with weekend work as business needs require. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
• Must be able to accurately and reliably identify color-coded conductors and wiring, and to read blueprints and schematics.
• Prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding throughout the shift, and pulling wires and cables through conduits, in all weather conditions and extreme temperatures with possible exposure to dust and fumes. Candidates must pass a fit-for-duty evaluation that includes a 75 lb. lifting standard.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
• Commensurate with experience, paid weekly, with health insurance and ancillary benefit options, paid holidays, PTO, 401k with company matching, and possible phone and auto allowance.
