Job description

The Role RF Engineering Lead: In this role you will own all aspects of the robot design related to MRI compatibility. You will ensure that cabling, material selection, and robot component shielding does not impact image quality. You will also lead the development, design, and manufacturing of custom integrated phased array receive coils for high fidelity imaging and tracker coils for rapid image-based robot localization. Responsibilities - Own cabling design, cable routing, trap design, electronics component shielding, and materials selection to ensure the robot and its operation do not interfere with sensitive MRI receiver hardware. - Design, simulate, prototype, and oversee production of custom MRI phased array imaging coil. - Design and build tracking coils to enable fast and accurate (sub-millimeter) image-based localization of robot end effector. - Perform MR compatibility testing of each subcomponent of the robotic system as well as assembly of subcomponents to ensure MRI-compatibility of system is achieved. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field with a strong focus on RF engineering and/or transmission line theory. - 5+ years of experience developing MRI hardware, MRI receive coils, tracking coils, and/or developing MRI-compatible electronics. - Experience developing shielding solutions to suppress common mode currents. - Knowledge of MR physics and interactions between MRI and electronic hardware introduced into this environment. Bonus Qualifications - Has worked in the MRI coil division (or similar) at GE, Siemens, or Philips and has experience in the manufacturing of robust RF coil designs. - Experience building MRI tracker coils for image based localization. - Familiarity with FDA safety and MRI compatibility requirements. - Experience with modeling and electromagnetic field simulation.
