Job description

Supplier Development Engineer, EEE, Connectors, Battery Cells & Sensors Build the supply chain powering humanoid robots. At 1X, we're designing intelligent, safe humanoid robots to address the world's labor shortages—starting in the home and scaling globally. We design and build every part of our robots in-house, combining engineering, manufacturing, and AI under one roof. At 1X, you'll own supplier development for electronic and electrical components, connectors, battery cells, and sensors that form the nervous system of our humanoids. You'll work with world-class engineers and suppliers to ensure these critical parts are designed, industrialized, and scaled to the highest quality standards. Your work will directly enable the safe and reliable delivery of humanoids into the real world. What You'll Do Partner with Engineering and Sourcing teams to select and qualify suppliers for electronic components, connectors, sensors, and battery cells Collaborate with suppliers on DFM reviews, process optimization, and industrialization readiness Lead supplier process validation from design through production ramp-up (APQP, PPAP, IQ/OQ/PQ) Support tooling, fixture, and test process qualification at supplier sites Drive supplier audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor and report supplier quality metrics, ensuring risk mitigation and ongoing capability Train and align suppliers on 1X's quality systems and expectations Travel up to 40% (domestic and international) for supplier engagement and build support What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related engineering field 6+ years in supplier quality, manufacturing, or supplier development (automotive, aerospace, or medical devices preferred) Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, GD&T, CAPA, and 8D problem solving Proven track record launching NPI and scaling supplier processes Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent quality systems Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to work hands-on at supplier sites Certifications (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, Lead Auditor) are a plus Let's make history.
