$22.00/Hour
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for making a variety of general repairs to existing Zoo amp; Aquarium infrastructure and systems, as well as other maintenance duties such as painting and building basic structures for staff, guests and animals.
POSITION DUTIES amp; ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for general maintenance on Zoo amp; Aquarium buildings, animal exhibits and guest areas, including basic repairs, painting and building basic structures.
70%
Assists other maintenance staff with completion of generated work orders related to a variety of mechanical trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, HVAC, etc.
20%
Assists maintenance manager in implementing and executing preventive maintenance programs.
5%
Assists with snow removal during winter months.
5%
*This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo amp; Aquarium.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. EDUCATION amp; FORMAL TRAINING:
    1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. EXPERIENCE:
    1. Minimum of 5 years general maintenance or carpentry experience desired.
    2. Knowledge of and experience using various power tools and maintenance equipment.
  1. OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Must have valid driver’s license.
    2. Must be able to lift 75 pounds and have sufficient mobility to ensure a safe work environment.
    3. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, climb, bend and stoop.
    4. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
    5. Must pass a background and drug screening.
