Job description

The Impact You'll Make in this Role A Zoo driver provides exceptional guest service both internally and externally when driving and operating the following: staff shuttles, guest transporting vehicles to include trains, carts and jeeps/trucks. A zoo driver must always adhere to safety and ride transport policies and procedures. As a Train and Shuttle Driver, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio.

Here, you will make an impact by: * Safely operate trains, shuttles and transport vehicles between designated locations adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations and procedures. * Monitor rider safety and ensure riders behavior does not endanger themselves or anyone else. * Provide excellent guest service * Maintain equipment and supplies related to the job function, outlined in the standard operating procedures. * Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all modalities for transportation * Responsible for opening and closing checklists and completing driver logs. * Consistently exhibits an attitude of service inside and outside the zoo, showing hospitality to all. * After every guest interaction, thank them and ensure every guest leaves satisfied with their experience. * Ensure all opening and closing cleaning procedures are complete for all operating vehicles. * Operate leaf blowers, steam cleaners, and pressure washers when needed. * Report any unsafe conditions to leadership and maintenance. * Perform daily safety runs of vehicles before opening to guests. * Ensure each guest meets rider safety requirements before loading vehicles. * Assist guests with mobility issues with getting on and off the vehicles. * Ensure all opening and closing pre-operations and safety logs are completed for each vehicle daily. * Zoo vehicles will also be operated for the future Safari Adventure Experience… coming soon! * Adhere to all policies set forth by San Antonio Zoo. * Consistently exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside the Zoo, showing hospitality to all. * Be fully committed to the mission of San Antonio Zoo to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward and the animals we protect. Other Responsibilities: * Performs other work-related duties as required and assigned. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications: * High school diploma or general education diploma. * Must have valid TX Driver's License and clean driving record. * Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills. * Minimum 6 months customer service industry preferred * Ability to lift 50 lbs. * Must be at least 18 years old. * Position requires a flexible schedule that includes availability on weekdays, weekends, nights, some holidays and occasional after-hour and off-site assignments. * Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen. * Onsite training with International Rides Training The San Antonio Zoo is an equal opportunity employer.
