Job description

Zenith Systems is a trusted name in the construction industry. As an electrical and technology contractor, our team of professionals is dedicated to providing complete building solutions for a variety of partners and clients. Due to our continued growth and success, we are excited to expand our team! We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Estimator to join our Electrical team. The ideal candidate will support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects. This position will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and the Zenith Systems project team to support successful project execution.

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Develop a thorough understanding of all project specifications and drawings, including electrical and all other trade disciplines (General trades, HVAC, and Plumbing).

·         Identify and communicate ambiguities, discrepancies, and inconsistencies in project documents and ensure questions are addressed by the architect or engineer in a timely manner and prior to bid deadlines.

·         Verify existing site conditions.

·         Solicit materials quotations from Zenith vendors and subcontractors, including generation of work scope if needed.  Prepare scopes of work and marked-up drawings if subcontractors are required on a project, i.e. excavation, pole bases, rigging and hoisting, concrete equipment pads, etc.

·         Perform material and labor takeoffs and measurements using Bluebeam or LiveCount.

·         Assist with estimating new projects using Accubid.

·         Review vendor and subcontractor bills of materials and scopes of work to ensure quotations are complete and accurate.

·         Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, errors, and omissions.

·         Review and interpret other trades' shop drawings and details, including millwork, casework, furniture, ceiling systems, mechanical equipment, power-operated doors, and other related materials to ensure proper electrical coordination.

·         Prepare contractor- or user-specific proposal letters using Zenith Systems' standard proposal template, including exclusions and clarifications.

·         Enter and maintain bid information in the Zenith Bid Tracker application.

·         Follow up regularly with recipients of Zenith Systems proposals.

·         Assist with client relationship development and business development activities.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

·         Experience in electrical construction estimating

·         Technical knowledge of electrical systems, materials, codes, regulations, and installation methods

·         Proficiency with estimating, management, and scheduling software: Procore, Bluebeam, Accubid, Conest as well as Word, Excel, and Outlook

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications

·         Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills

·         Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail.

·         Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Education and Experience:

·         High school diploma or equivalent required; College degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

·         Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in Project Estimating in electrical construction.

·         Active industry specific certification.
