Zamboni Driver

General Summary

Under the direction of the evening supervisor or supervisor on duty, the Zamboni Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient resurfacing of ice rinks, routine maintenance of Zamboni equipment, and monitoring of the compressor room. This role ensures high-quality ice conditions and supports general rink operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily maintenance checks on Zamboni machines (oil, antifreeze, blades).
  • Resurface ice between rentals to ensure optimal skating conditions.
  • Monitor compressor room on an hourly basis.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Zamboni room and rink back areas.
  • Provide on-ice equipment such as nets for rentals and programs.
  • Conduct basic ice maintenance, including patching, edging, and chipping.
  • Assist with rink door repairs and glass replacement.
  • Report mechanical or operational issues to supervisors promptly.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Customer service skills and professionalism.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (50+ lbs).
  • Trained or willing to be trained in Zamboni and ice edger operation.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment.
  • Familiarity with ice maintenance practices (flooding, edging, painting).
  • Ability to follow a strict resurfacing and maintenance schedule.

Working Conditions
