Job description

Pay: 50%-55% Commission for Instruction Sessions and $16.00 per hour for Admin/Meeting/Orientation hours

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Group Fitness Manager (who oversees Pilates, Yoga, Spinning, Aqua Fit, as well as other group exercise classes at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center), the Pilates Reformer Instructor is responsible for successfully implementing member engagement initiatives that align with the core values of the organization.  This position serves as a vital role in engaging, retaining members and facilitating a safe and welcoming environment that inspires, as well as encourages, teaches our members.   

Areas of Responsibility

  • Attend department meetings and continuing education classes to keep certifications current
  • Help keep the studio well-stocked and clean
  • Keep all equipment in good working condition
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly fitness environment, picking up towels, trash, etc.
  • Follow APJCC safety and emergency procedures at all times.

*Other duties as assigned by management and as business dictates.

Qualifications and competencies:

Education/Certifications:

  • Qualifying minimum Comprehensive Pilates certification
  • Certified Pilates Reformer
  • Current Instructor certifications
  • Current CPR/AED certifications

Qualifications include:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Great customer service
  • Passion for helping others
  • Familiarity with Mind Body Online – A Plus!

Experience:

  • Both new and experienced instructors

Working Conditions/Physical requirements:

  • Work in a Fitness Center/Community Center and typical business office environment

While performing the duties of this job, the work environment can be noisy and you may be working in close proximity with others. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as phones, computers and printers.
