The Opportunity
As the Field Project Controls Planner, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Work in a lead level position assigned to a full time planning site role on a conventional generation project in Newnan, GA. The Plant Yates Units 8-10 Project is a 3 x 0 simple cycle combustion turbine facility on a brownfield site at existing Plant Yates in Newnan, Georgia.
  • Be responsible for independently applying advanced project controls techniques and analyses.
  • Handle commercial issues and will provide leadership and guidance to less experienced project control personnel.
  • Have project team supervisory responsibilities.
  • Effectively lead a team of PJC professionals and able to positively influence internal and external clients to achieve successful results.
  • Achieve a high level of forecasting accuracy.
  • Address project issues therefore supporting a successful project outcome.
  • Lead proposal efforts.

This is a field based position requiring mobilization to the construction project site for the duration of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Planning/Scheduling:
• Leads planning and schedule preparation on more complex projects including startup planning.
• Addresses contractual requirements related to schedule control.
• As required by the business unit, expert in scheduling forensics.
• Recognizes critical issues and interfaces.
• Confers with PM team on project execution matters.
• Participates in key risk management discussions.
• Participates in and may lead any potential claims issues.
• Supervises subcontract administration when assigned.
• As applicable ensures compliance with tools/processes in Field Project Controls Manual.
• As applicable ensures startup planning is at the appropriate level of detail.
Management Responsibilities
Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or local equivalent in Engineering or Construction Management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree with eight or more years of relevant Cost Control of Planning & Scheduling experience OR no four-year Bachelor's degree required with ten years or more of relevant Cost Control or Planning & Scheduling experience in Home Office or Field Office.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Office Environment:
  • This position requires sitting, talking, hearing, keyboard input, and seeing. Occasional travel up to 25% may be required.

Construction Site Environment:
  • This position requires standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, moving, and walking long distances in and around confined, cluttered places and uneven areas. It also requires the ability to see and hear naturally or with correction, work at heights above 5 feet, climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, and work up to a 12-hour shift. The work environment may involve cramped workspaces, very hot or cold temperatures, inclement weather, extreme lighting conditions, distracting or uncomfortable noise levels, and hazardous equipment.
