Job Summary:The Yard Associate will be responsible for the daily operations, inventory management, and maintenance of the heavy equipment yard. This role involves handling equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment. Additionally, the Yard Associate will assist in pressure washing equipment, maintaining the yard through mowing, weed eating, and trash pickup. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and customer service.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Handling and Management:
    • Load and unload heavy equipment using forklifts, cranes, and other machinery.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment upon check-in and check-out, noting any damages or maintenance needs.
    • Pressure wash equipment as required to ensure cleanliness.
    • Organize and store equipment and materials in designated areas for easy access.
    • Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment as needed.
  2. Inventory Management:
    • Maintain accurate records of equipment, parts, and supplies.
    • Perform regular inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Assist in managing incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying quantities, and inspecting for damage.
    • Enter and update inventory data in the inventory management system.
    • Assist in physical inventory counts and provide inventory reports.
  3. Yard Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean and organized yard by mowing, weed eating, and picking up trash.
    • Ensure the yard is free of hazards and complies with safety standards.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks on the yard and equipment.
  4. Customer Interaction:
    • Greet customers and drivers, providing excellent customer service and addressing questions or concerns.
    • Assist with equipment pickup and drop-off, ensuring smooth transactions and customer satisfaction.
    • Coordinate with operations and procurement teams to ensure timely and efficient yard operations.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Yard Manager.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  6. Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit daily reports on equipment status, inventory levels, and customer interactions.
    • Communicate inventory needs and issues with the Yard Manager and other relevant departments.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or inventory management role preferred.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery (forklifts, cranes) safely and efficiently.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Basic understanding of inventory management systems and software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid drivers license required.


Preferred Qualifications:
