The core responsibilities of this role include: Overseeing the movement of equipment between assigned yard locations and dock doors, ensuring efficient loading and unloading activities. Maintain a clean and safe work area and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns to supervision. Recharge on-site vehicles, accurately document yard locations, and monitor the condition of all equipment. This role requires close collaboration with Operations in a fast-paced environment.

Position: Second (2nd) Shift Yard Driver NON-DOT

Shift: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:00pm

Pay: $23.60 per hour

Shift Differential: $1.00 per hour

Additional Incentives: All full-time employees are eligible to qualify for monthly performance and attendance incentive bonuses!

In addition to the general job description below, the ideal candidate will also possess the following skills and/or experience:

  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience.
  • Work closely with operations to gather, file & maintain all data & records related to shipping & receiving activities.
  • Ensure loading on time per load-ready date & times. Generate and utilize system reports to evaluate shift progress.
  • Ensure complete communication for the turn of shift. Conduct oneself in a polite and service-oriented manner towards carriers, customers, and fellow associates.
  • Track record of good attendance.
  • Must have a can-do positive attitude.
  • Must have the willingness to learn new things.
  • Must be able to provide detailed communication both verbally and written in English.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Role Purpose:

Drives switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations. Makes decisions in sequencing schedule to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations. Loads and unloads trailers and verifies product count. Maintains a clean and safe docking area and reports any maintenance or safety issues to supervision. Refuels vehicles on site and documents locations and condition of equipment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain safe and efficient dock operation by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
  • Maintains equipment fuel levels and refuels equipment during appropriate times.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, verifying the count and condition of product. Reports overages, shortages, and damages.
  • Performs daily yard checks.
  • Properly secures loads, ensuring loads are within local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and/or logs as required policies and procedures.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notifies supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
  • Complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of one year verifiable experience driving, switching or commercial tractor
