Job description

Marine Diesel Technician / Marine Systems Technician

We are seeking an experienced Marine Diesel Technician to join a growing yacht service operation in coastal Maine.

This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys diagnosing, repairing, commissioning, and maintaining high-quality recreational and commercial vessels.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair marine diesel engines
• Service fuel, cooling, exhaust, steering and propulsion systems
• Troubleshoot electrical systems (12V/24V)
• Install and repair generators and auxiliary systems
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Complete commissioning and sea trials
• Maintain accurate service documentation
• Work directly with service managers and customers

Qualifications

• Marine diesel experience preferred
• Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, Volvo Penta, MAN, MTU, Yanmar or John Deere Marine
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience with hydraulic, plumbing and electrical systems
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Preferred

• ABYC certifications
• Factory certifications
• Boatyard or yacht service experience
• Generator experience (Northern Lights, Kohler, Westerbeke, Onan)
