Job description

Seeking a Materials Test Engineer for a contract opportunity in Lisle, IL to assist our client's Analytical Test Team with surface analysis and performing cross-sections. 
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Process Analytical test requests
  • Conduct advanced analysis on components, materials, and electronic assemblies
  • Handle multiple analytical services and failure analysis projects for multiple business divisions and business units, which may be global.
  • In cases of performing failure analysis, critical thinking, creativity, and in-depth analysis are required to arrive at root cause(s) to share with internal customers.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Sciences
  • 1+ years’ experience in a laboratory environment providing analytical services and conducting failure analysis activities.
  • Demonstrated, specific WORK experience in the operation and interpretation of results in Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM/EDS) analysis and Optical Microscopy. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely and author engineering reports.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with others effectively, including global contacts.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials or Metallurgy.
  • 5+ years of experience in a laboratory environment providing analytical services and conducting failure analysis activities on electronic assemblies or materials.
  • Experience with FTIR, FIB-SEM, Confocal Microscopy, and XRF.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating metallographic cross sections. 
  • Copper alloy material analysis and metallurgy experience.
  • Plating surface analysis and general process knowledge.
  • Electronic assembly failure analysis experience
