Job description

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspects the required number of containers for proper weight control in accordance with procedure.
  • Ensures that container weights are within the acceptable parameters and adjusts as necessary.
  • When weights exceed the maximum allowed on retort products, immediately shut down the line and notify management.
  • Reports to management when weight control cannot be maintained.
  • Assists and communicates with filler operators on filler operations, CIP cleanups, initial startup, startup from downtime, broken jar cleanup, etc.
  • Completes all required paperwork accurately and legibly; then delivers paperwork to the quality control lab.
  • Maintains supply of caps in Hopper along with Filler Operator.
  • Monitors closure quality and reports to management any issues.
  • Communicates effectively with de-palletizer operator.
  • Checks cap and glass quality of x-ray rejects. Ensures defects are delivered to the lab for analysis.
  • Track discarded jars and any other items listed on procedures.
  • Document and track cap box inventory as they are used throughout the shift.
  • Reports maintenance issues as they occur and submits work orders when necessary.
  • Follows all DFA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory quality, and sanitation requirements.
  • Utilize scanners or thin client units to make SAP transaction for the purpose of maintain accurate inventory levels and ensuring reliable product traceability
  • Perform items on the Master Sanitation lists when production is not running.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals in a safe manner utilizing safety equipment such as gloves, eyewear, etc.
  • Clear cardboard, trash, and excess pallets from filler room.
  • Maintain sanitary equipment conditions during production.
  • Change product code on x-ray machine.
  • Operate fork lift as necessary to resupply cap inventory.
  • Maintain safe environment and perform other duties in a safe manner at all times.
  • Assists in training new operator.
  • Ability to function in a team based structure and positively contributes to team based efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • 8pm - 4am - Monday - Friday / Saturdays as required based on Demand
  • Shift Premium - Shifts starting after 2pm - .50/Hour

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must obtain a Forklift Operator License within 30 days of hiring.
    • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
