Job description

Summary

The Production Technician supports the safe, efficient, and consistent production of Tofurky products. This role includes tasks across sealing, peeling, mixing/cooking, packaging, and general production support. Responsibilities include operating and monitoring equipment, handling materials, ensuring food safety and quality, maintaining accurate documentation, and keeping work areas clean and safe.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, start up, and shut down production equipment (mixers, ovens, forming equipment, packaging machines, conveyors, etc.).
  • Perform production activities include:
  • Seal: Remove casing, slicing, move racks, set up Multivac, handle intermediate products. 
  • Peel/seal: Remove casings, move racks, wash totes, handle intermediate products.
  • Mix/Cook: Weigh ingredients, mix and form raw materials, bake/cook products.
  • Packaging: Handle, sleeve/bag, carton, pack, palletize, and X-ray products.
  • Attach appropriate labels, tags, and lot/batch numbers to products and packages.
  • Perform quality checks and complete all required processing and quality documentation.
  • Load/unload raw materials and finished goods.
  • Follow all safety rules, including PPE use, chemical handling, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment (sweeping, mopping, cleaning machinery, scraping waste, washing equipment).
  • Assist with general production and support tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor.

Education & Experience

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Prior sanitation, janitorial, or food processing experience.
  • Experience working with cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
  • Must safely lift/move up to 45 lbs. regularly.
  • Comfortable working in wet, noisy, or varied temperature environments.
  • Ability to use ladders, work in tight spaces, and move equipment as needed.
