The Esports student assistant position provides general support to the full-time staff members, volunteers, and team captains by assisting with day-to-day tasks, scheduling, programming, event planning and execution, marketing, and advertising. This position must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of gaming (PC, Xbox, PS and Nintendo) through providing general oversight and support to Esports arena and casting center.Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the distribution of monthly Esports calendars
  • Provide general maintenance and cleaning of the Esports Arena and Casting Center.
  • Provide oversight of the Esports Arena and Casting Center during hours of operation.
  • Assist full-time staff with scheduling of events, tournaments, and programs.
  • Submit IT work order tickets for technical issues with the equipment.
  • Work closely with volunteer graphic designers and post content on social media accounts.
  • Work closely with team captains to establish an effective schedule for practices and games.
  • Ensures that student-athlete and staff behavior, as well as program reputation, are in alignment with the institution values and mission.
  • Promote Esports and the Gaming Club at tabling and recruitment events.
  • Inventory and replenish supplies for full-time staff members, volunteers, and team captains.
  • Positively represent Saint Leo University and the Division of Student Affairs in words and deeds.
  • Assist with program setup, tear down, research, event planning, marketing, and advertising.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Education or job experience in an office environment is a plus, but not required.
  • Education or job experience in event planning, hospitality, journalism, communications, organizational development, marketing and/or public relations is a plus, but not required.
  • Eligible to become Saint Leo University Van and Golf Cart Certified.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and congenially in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to speak and write in a second language is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively in an inclusive and professional environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate or advanced Canva proficiency is a plus.
  • Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Office Professional suite proficiency.
  • Novice or intermediate proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
  • Novice or intermediate proficiency in social media platforms.
  • Detail-oriented and diligent to follow-up and complete tasks for assigned projects.
  • A positive, pleasant attitude with good problem-solving skills.
  • Professional attire may be required for special events.
  • Clean driving record and capable of driving University Vans.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled full-time at Saint Leo University in an Undergraduate Campus program.
  • Eligible for Federal Work Study
