Job description

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medical Oncology seek a General Hematologist/Oncologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Hematology/Oncology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidates must have completed an Internal Medicine residency program, as well as Hematology/Oncology fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Hematology/Oncology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The Cecil B. Highland, Jr. & Barbara B. Highland Cancer Center at UHC is recognized by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Program. The center provides the entire continuum of cancer related services from prevention/early detection screening and education to surgery, medical and radiation oncology, inpatient and outpatient therapies, home care and hospice services. UHC’s cancer navigator program is the largest in North Central West Virginia, providing comprehensive and compassionate guidance to patients and their families throughout their cancer care and survivorship.

Bridgeport is an economically strong and vibrant community, as it is home to government and private enterprises that include the FBI, energy, aerospace and health care.
