Job description

WSP USA, Inc is seeking an early career Civil Engineer to carry out the planning, design, and modeling of site grading, surface preparation, stormwater, stormwater management systems, preparation of technical documents and provide construction oversight.  This individual will interface with both internal and external clients; be dynamic, creative, quality driven, have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; and be a proactive problem solver. Overall, you will be working with teams of engineers, architects, and scientists on a wide variety of projects including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, and soil/groundwater remediation.

Key Responsibilities

  • BS or MS degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering or related field. 
  • 0-1 years civil/environmental design experience. 
  • Work within multidiscipline design teams on wide variety of civil and civil/environmental projects, including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Grading and drainage design and stormwater modeling experience.
  • Erosion and sediment control and stormwater permitting experience.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations and design reports.
  • AutoCAD Civil3D knowledge for developing surface models and earthwork quantities.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of materials of construction and developing construction details.
  • Preparation of project permitting documents for local, state and federal permits. 
  • Perform construction inspection and oversight activities.
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities.
  • Interact with coworkers, clients, and prospective clients while conducting work in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and additional support tasks.
  • Strong dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting company safety culture.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if/as required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites.  Approximately 10% overnight travel.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
  • PE or ability to obtain PE license within 4 years.
  • Ability to prepare design engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings. 
  • AutoCAD knowledge and experience.
  • Civil3D knowledge and experience is a plus.

Desirable Qualifications

  • MS in Civil Engineering.

  • Construction inspection/oversight experience.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is a plus.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $60,400 - $70,300
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
