Job description

At McElroy, our products help build critical infrastructure around the world. We're looking for a skilled Technical Writer who can transform complex engineering and manufacturing information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that helps our teams build, inspect, and support world-class equipment.
In this role, you'll partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, and Customer Service teams to create the documents, procedures, and tools that keep our operations running smoothly. From assembly instructions and inspection procedures to safety documentation and digital document systems, your work will directly support the production of our fusion and fintube products.

What You'll Do
Create and Maintain Critical Technical Documentation
Develop, edit, and manage a wide variety of documentation, including:
  • Manuals
  • Procedures and work instructions
  • Forms and inspection procedures
  • Assembly procedures
  • Product labeling instructions
  • Instructional posters and visual aids
  • Campus maps and signage
Drive Documentation Excellence
  • Develop and maintain documentation standards, templates, and style guides
  • Manage document revisions and version control throughout the product lifecycle
  • Ensure documentation complies with company standards, industry requirements, and customer expectations
  • Continuously identify opportunities to simplify and improve technical documentation
Support Digital Documentation Systems
  • Maintain the McElroy MEQ document repository and user interface
  • Coordinate system enhancements and upgrades with the Web Designer
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the McElroy Quality Inspection Tool (QC Checklist database)
  • Provide support and guidance to internal users
  • Recommend improvements that increase functionality and value
Collaborate Across the Organization
  • Work closely with engineers, production teams, quality personnel, and subject matter experts to gather technical information
  • Partner with the Safety team to create and maintain safety documentation, including:
    • Safety manuals
    • Emergency Action Plans
    • Supervisor Safety Plans
  • Support new product introductions by preparing internal documentation before product release
Create Visual Content
  • Develop and edit technical illustrations, diagrams, photographs, and graphics that enhance understanding and improve usability
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of technical writing experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or OEM environment
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, mechanical assemblies, and technical specifications
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and document management systems
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, industrial machinery, or OEM products
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, intranet portals, and document management systems
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Microsoft Visio
  • Experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign
  • Knowledge of Infor XA ERP
  • Familiarity with ISO quality standards and document control practices
  • Experience creating exploded-view illustrations and technical graphics
