What You Will Do:
The Technical writer will have a background in areas of design, engineering, and construction documents. The Technical Writer develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposal solicitations, technical specifications, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment, receives assignment from supervisor, observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail. The technical writer will work with the team to develop and define requirements by interfacing with the program/project manager, engineers. The technical writer will be familiar with product technologies, characteristics, production methods, and will reviews manufacturer's trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. The general responsibilities of the Technical Writer are as follows, to include but not limited to:
  • Create Statements of Work (SOW), Performance Work Statements (PWS), Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Qualifications (RFQ) using customized organizational templates.
  • Writes, edits, reviews & organizes all technical written materials including organization of key sections, tables, exhibits, and attachments, providing graphic/layout assistance to help ensure that a quality proposal is received.
  • Proof, standardize and edit solicitation sections written by peers and other writers on the proposal team.
  • Work closely with the Facilities and Logistics Services Support Team in coordination of deadlines and delivery schedules.
  • Help create presentations and format and prepare documents for executive level presentations by peers.
  • Create and update content for Brochures, Briefings, Technical papers, and corporate website.

What You Will Need:
  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree; additional FOUR (4) years of relevant experience may be used in lieu of degree
  • FOUR (4) or more years of experience writing proposals for Federal government work
  • Understanding of request for information (RFI)/request for proposal (RFP)/government acquisition contract (GWAC)/statement of work (SOW)/performance work statement (PWS) and other Federal government processes
  • Non-disclosure agreement will be required

  • FIVE (5) years of proficiency in writing and editing skills using MS Office
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize staff requests, and set expectations
  • Attention to detail and effective professional correspondence
  • Self-sufficient and resourceful, and able to work independently and take ownership of the project
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
