Job description

Job Summary:
  • Assist pharmacist in pre-packaging, labeling and dispensing medications.
  • Refill, load and unload and trouble-shoot basic problems for automated dispensing machines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and free of out-of-date medications.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously, assisting with any non-clinical questions.
  • Assist in any area of pharmacy where workload requires.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory levels and assist in ordering and restocking medications and supplies.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all computer systems utilize in pharmacy.
  • Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
  • Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal technician training program with satisfactory grades in all modules preferred. Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
Experience:
Six months of continuous experience in a pharmacy position with IV admixture experience.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Must have the ability to read, to write, to prepare and to interpret written instructions and to make mathematical calculations. Must have good communication skills and be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff members. Computer skills and the use of pharmacy software are preferred.
