Job description

Heluna Health invites applicants to apply for the position of Grant Writer.  Under the direction of the Chief Program Officer, the Grant Writer will primarily be responsible for producing narratives that can be used in various funding applications and proposals that help to expand new business and secure funding for Heluna Health and its clients. 

The Grant Writer will work closely with the Chief Program Officer, Senior Grant Writer and Program Management Department to develop and implement processes, work with project staff, and assist leadership with defining and prioritizing written assets that contribute to the growth of the organization.

The Grant Writer position will entail management of information in an organized fashion to create a repository of resources that can be easily accessible to the department and in all elements of the pre-award process including but not limited to searching for new funding opportunities, utilizing and updating Salesforce CRM database to keep updated information of new opportunities, maintaining a standard system to retain record of applications, working collaboratively with team members to gather pertinent data and information and, commitment to learning Heluna Health programs in order to maintain relevance and consistently portraying Heluna Health’s successes in a compelling and up to date manner. The Grant writer will play an integral role in increasing Heluna Health’s contributions in writing case studies and abstracts that further amplify Heluna Health’s impact and create opportunities for new business through these channels.   

Collaboration, initiative, attention to detail and advanced writing skills will be at the forefront of the Grant Writer position and will require but will not be limited to supporting and working with colleagues in the department to seek and synthesize information in a way that is responsive to the nature of the respective requests. The Grant Writer will be responsible for managing the daily workload independently as directed by Chief Program Officer and in adherence with agreed upon internal and external deadlines. 

Salary Range: $88,900 to $90,000

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Creation of high-quality, informed, researched, data-supported narrative that is responsive to respective requests
  • Ensures project management of all personal workload and deadlines within the parameters of department processes and tools to accomplish project milestones
  • Engage in regular funding searches through established search engines/subscriptions/listservs and identification of potential funding opportunities
  • Adherence to department grant management and submission requirements and bid/non bid process processes with an analytical approach and suggestions for process quality improvement that contribute to better quality work and more efficient productivity
  • Maintenance of narrative resources that can be re-purposed and shared across departments and are able to be used for standard federal, county, city and local funding applications as well as custom or unsolicited proposals
  • Employ meticulous attention to detail to ensure compliance with grant application requirements successful project planning and adherence to deadlines
  • Review solicitations and prepare - with the assistance of project teams, specialized and/or non-routine response for proposals or other similar requests
  • Participation and collaboration in preparation of solicitated and unsolicited proposal development and project budgets that are aligned with project narratives
  • Provide support for new business initiatives and goals within new business development plan and organizational strategic plan
  • Coordination, implementation, execution, and documentation of Heluna Health projects and activities to ensure alignment with Heluna Health’s strategic direction, goals and objectives.
  • Provide support for our client grant writing and grant proposal package and submission needs, as identified
  • Assist with all data requirements as needed for the department to include but not limited to CRM management, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and Salesforce
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • Proficiency required in Salesforce a plus.  
  • Advanced excel skills a plus. 
  • Advanced writing skills required.
