Job description

Salamander Designs is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in product design and development within a fast-paced, innovative manufacturing environment. The position has potential to grow into a full-time role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
•       Assist in the design and development of AV furniture and related mechanical components using 3D CAD software 
•       Create, configure, and revise 2D drawings and 3D models to support manufacturing of standard and custom product 
•        Assist with Engineering Change Requests, Vendor Quality Alerts, BOM updates and revisions, and custom order setup.
•       Conduct testing and evaluation of prototypes and provide  documentation
•       Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across product lines and throughout the department,  with a focus on CAD database organization and File System Management
•       Collaborate on new product development from ideation through prototyping and product launch
•       Participate in custom product design reviews and provide engineering analysis and recommendations

Qualifications
•       Current enrollment in an accredited Engineering or related program (junior or senior standing preferred)
•       Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
•       Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
•       Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
•       Excellent written and verbal communication skills
