Our office in Walnut Creek, CA office is seeking an Intern to join our team This is an in-office position, with potential travel to other offices in the area, and offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a client-facing, administrative, and customer service-focused environment. As an Intern, you will support daily office operations by serving as a first point of contact for clients, answering phones, directing inquiries, greeting guests, and assisting with administrative tasks. You will play a key role in preparing and managing prospect and welcome packets for offices across the organization, while developing professional communication skills and learning how to navigate common office and customer service challenges. Throughout the internship, you will collaborate with team members, build strong working relationships, and gain exposure to business operations within a professional services setting. We're specifically seeking candidates who reside in the Walnut Creek, CA area.
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the hourly rate for this position is $21 per hour.
Primary Job Functions
1. Client Support: 25%
  • Greet clients and visitors and help create a welcoming and professional office environment.
  • Assist with answering and directing incoming phone calls and emails to the appropriate team members.
  • Support the team by helping track and respond to general client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare basic client communications, reminders, and follow-ups under guidance from team members.
  • Observe and gradually build understanding of client relationship management and service standards.
  • Provide backup support to the broader team when needed.

2. Advisor Support: 25%
  • Assist advisors and team members with meeting preparation, including assembling materials and organizing information.
  • Help manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate logistics.
  • Support follow-up tasks from client meetings such as note organization, tracking action items, and updating systems.
  • Draft basic communications on behalf of advisors for review.
  • Learn how advisors prepare for and conduct client interactions through observation and hands-on support.
  • Step in to assist other team members with administrative support when needed.

3. Administrative Support: 25%
  • Support day-to-day office operations, including data entry, document organization, and file maintenance.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records in CRM or internal systems. Provide support with light administrative tasks such as expense tracking or invoice organization under supervision.
  • Help ensure documents and processes are organized, accurate, and up to date.

4. Team Collaboration, Efficiency & Excellence: 25%
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment through reliability, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
  • Ask questions, seek feedback, and actively build knowledge of the business and processes.
  • Support team initiatives and participate in meetings or projects when appropriate.
  • Identify simple opportunities for process improvements and share ideas with the team.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, and accountability in assigned tasks.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to develop professional skills and industry knowledge.

Education/Qualifications
  • Must be actively enrolled in a college or university degree program to be eligible for an internship. Candidates who have already graduated or will graduate before the start of the summer intern program are not eligible.
  • Preferably pursuing bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics.
  • Preferably students between their junior and senior years.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and adaptable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

WEG hires employees and makes decisions about their salary qualifications based on factors such as: the role to be performed; educational and professional experience, qualifications, skills and credentials; tenure, cost-of-living and demand for the role in the applicable market. To comply with state pay transparency laws, we must disclose the entire salary grade. The entire salary grade for those who are classified as the Intern level is $38,700.00 to$ 54,200.00. However, the base salary range bolded above is what we expect to pay as a starting range for this position.
