Graduate Student
Nature & Purpose of Position
Applicants will work as a graduate assistant at the Writing and Humanities division of the Academic Success Center and can expect to work with SHSU students from any level or discipline on student writing. Tutors will assist students in all aspects of the writing process and will have the opportunity to tutor more advanced topics.
Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting one-on-one tutoring sessions with students
  • Facilitating workshops in classrooms and for organizations upon request
  • Participating in other Writing Center projects and initiatives
  • Attending required meetings and professional development trainings
  • Supporting students across all writing-related needs
  • Supervising other tutors
  • Supporting the Writing and Humanities team with administrative tasks
This is an in-person position at the Academic Success Center in Huntsville. Tutoring formats include in-person, online, and group tutoring.
High-performing tutors will have opportunities for advancement to Lead Tutor positions, which include additional responsibilities and a salary increase.
