Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in product design or UX.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience in product design or UX.

• 4 years of experience leading design projects.
• 3 years of experience working with executive leaders.

As a Staff Visual Designer on the Google Chat UX team, you will influence the future of real-time communication in a highly strategic and impactful role. You will oversee visual design outcomes for both established programs and emerging Google Chat initiatives, steering the visual strategy and designing high-priority features across Web, Android, and iOS.
You will act as a subject-matter expert in UI design, visual craft, and systems thinking. You thrive in ambiguous environments, establishing visual languages where no precedent exists and aligning cross-functional leaders around a cohesive, premium aesthetic. In this role, you will advocate the visual design strategy for new features, manage design system standards, and act as a driving force for design excellence throughout the Google Workspace product area.User experience is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our users' needs, behaviors, and emotions to gather insights that inform product strategy and design. Our UX teams include designers, researchers, content strategists, and engineers who are passionate about quality, usability, and simplicity. We work on collaborative teams to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight our products' unique capabilities and personalities. Responsibilities

• Influence stakeholders across functions to gain support for design strategies.
• Drive the development of innovative design solutions to user, product, and business problems.
• Drive a holistic design process, design system, or design language across teams or products.
• Drive design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends that further business outcomes.
• Provide direction to UX designers in creating design concepts for product ideation or user research/testing.
