Job description

This position is located in the city of Sacramento .
Under the administrative direction of the Student Services Section Chief (Supervisor II), the Supervisor I is responsible for the overall operations of the Student Services Section, including direct supervision and training of section staff, planning, quality assurance and continuous improvement. The Section will be responsible for innovation, policy, curriculum research and recommendations, training, technical assistance to both DOR staff and external education partners, data collection and monitoring, quality assurance, and subject matter expertise and ongoing support to the field. In addition, the section will be responsible for outreach on a statewide level to local education agencies and other statewide systems working with students with disabilities, ages 16-21. Under direction of the Student Services Chief, the Supervisor I will be responsible for the section's performance in providing the mandated Pre-Employment Transition Services to all students with disabilities in California in need of such service and ensuring that these services are available statewide. Other related grants and projects relating to the provision of services to youth may also be under this Section's purview. The Supervisor I will provide direct supervision of a team of Analyst II's and support staff. Using initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness, the Supervisor I, must analyze situations and provide leadership to form multi-agency/program partnerships; effectively plan and resolve problems; effectively represent the Department, and provide oversight, monitoring and overall direction to the Department with respect to DOR Student Services.

Working Conditions
The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Special Requirements In addition to a correctly completed and submitted State Application (STD 678) and a resume, a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required in order to be considered for an interview. The SOQ should address how the candidate's experience meets each of the following desirable qualifications. Each response must be numbered and should provide specific examples of how the candidate meets the qualification. The SOQ must be no more than three (2) pages typed in Arial 14-point font, with 1-inch margins. 2. Explain your experience in developing training and providing technical assistance. Describe the methods you used to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery across multiple locations.
3. Please describe your experience or activities working in programs to improve employment, independence, and equality for individuals with disabilities
