Superintendent San Jacinto Funeral Home & Memorial Park

We have been honored to deliver healing experiences to the Houston community. We exist to serve the unique needs of every family. NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Superintendent at San Jacinto Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. This role is essential to maintaining a beautiful, safe, and dignified environment for the families we serve. Our Superintendents play a key part in cemetery operations, leading with professionalism, accuracy, and respect. We value dedication, recognize potential, and celebrate ethical leadership across our teams.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain memorials, markers, and crypts to ensure a well-kept and respectful environment.
  • Verify all interment, entombment, and inurnment locations using cemetery maps and layout documentation.
  • Perform grave opening and closing with precision, safety, and reverence.
  • Install markers and memorials according to specifications and cemetery standards.
  • Operate large mechanical equipment, including backhoes, for burial vault placement and grounds tasks.
  • Ensure grounds crew uniforms, appearance, and conduct reflect professionalism and respect toward client families.
  • Maintain inventories, clean facilities, and conduct daily policing of the grounds to remove debris, trash, limbs, and other items that detract from a dignified setting.
  • Support any role required within groundskeeping or facilities maintenance.
Qualifications
  • Experience operating large machinery; backhoe experience required.
  • Ability to move, install, and set burial vaults safely and accurately.
  • Ability to interpret cemetery maps, grave layouts, and plot documentation.
  • Ability to lead grounds staff in caretaking and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Work cooperatively with funeral home and cemetery team members.
