How much do working couple jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 16, 2026, the average hourly pay for working couple in Utah is $21.79, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $17.50 and $24.95 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a working couple, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Working Couple, you typically need complementary skills in property management, hospitality, maintenance, and administration, with relevant experience or training in these areas. Familiarity with property management software, housekeeping systems, and basic accounting tools is often required. Strong teamwork, adaptability, communication, and problem-solving skills set outstanding working couples apart. These qualifications and interpersonal strengths ensure smooth operations, exceptional service delivery, and effective collaboration in roles that require joint responsibility.

What is the difference between Working Couple vs Housekeeper?

AspectWorking CoupleHousekeeper
Required CredentialsNone typically required, but experience in household management is commonOften requires cleaning or hospitality certifications
Work EnvironmentMultiple household tasks, shared responsibilities, flexible hoursPrimarily cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a household
Employer & Industry UsagePrivate households, family homesHotels, private homes, hospitality industry
Common Search & Comparison IntentLooking for household help, shared responsibilitiesCleaning services, household maintenance

While both roles involve household work, a Working Couple typically shares responsibilities in managing a household, often with flexible hours and diverse tasks. A Housekeeper mainly focuses on cleaning and maintaining the home, often with specific certifications. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right role or service for household needs.

What is a working couple?

A working couple typically refers to two people, often partners or spouses, who are employed together in the same job or workplace, particularly in roles that require teamwork such as caretakers, property managers, or hospitality staff. These positions are common in environments like private estates, hotels, or farms, where employers value the reliability and versatility that couples can provide. Working couples often share both professional and personal responsibilities, making them attractive hires for positions that require trust and long-term commitment.

What unique challenges and opportunities might a working couple face when managing responsibilities at a hospitality property?

Working as a couple in a hospitality setting brings both opportunities and challenges. Couples often benefit from shared responsibilities and mutual support, which can lead to efficient property management and a strong team dynamic. However, balancing personal and professional boundaries can be challenging, especially when living on-site. It's important to communicate openly, divide tasks based on each person's strengths, and establish routines that allow for both teamwork and individual downtime. Many couples find that this role provides valuable experience in hospitality management and can lead to future opportunities in larger properties or related fields.

How to get a job as a working couple?

The qualifications that a working couple needs to get a job depend on the nature of the work and the employer. In general, you both should have similar skill sets. If you manage a farm, you both need farming skills and experience, and some employers prefer applicants with a degree in agriculture, animal husbandry, or a related field. To work at a resort or guesthouse, employers prefer that at least one member of the couple have a degree or equivalent experience in hospitality management or extensive industry experience. If your duties focus on maintenance, you need a degree or equivalent experience from a vocational school or have trained and worked for several years in maintenance.

Job description

Family Haven is a nonprofit organization with a primary purpose of preventing and treating child abuse. Our mission is to build a community of healthy, happy individuals and families through education and the prevention of child abuse, trauma and other personal and family concerns.

Family Haven is looking for two people to work in our Crisis/Respite Nursery, caring for children from newborn through 11 years old. Many of these children are coming from situations that put them at risk of abuse and neglect, and our goal is to provide a safe place for them to be with healthy adult role-models, while their parents take care of whatever difficult situation they are dealing with. These should be caring, engaging adults who are willing and excited to interact with kids. Playing with kids is the number one activity while you are working, providing opportunities for them to feel connected and safe. We are available as a community resource 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position requires one weekend a month on call, Friday 5:30pm-Monday 8:00 am on-call, with Sat. 4-8pm on-site, with potential to be on-site for more hours based on possible crisis circumstances.
  • During on-call time: carry on-call cell phone and answer all calls, be within 30 minutes of admitting children to the nursery if a crisis situation arises.
  • During on-site time: Connect with children through play, care for the children and meet their needs, check families in & out, basic cleaning, basic paperwork, prepare & serve meals/snacks, supervise volunteers.

This is a great opportunity for couples or friends to work together and help children in our community. This is a unique position with a lot of variety and if you would like more information, please feel free to call (801) 229-1181 or email rhardman@family-haven.org. Please look through our website for more information about our respite and other community services.

Pay (per person) $15/hour for on-site time; $1/hour for on-call time.

When applying, please indicate the name of the second person who is applying with you.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Both individuals should be over the age of 20.
  • Both individuals need to have 6 months of professional or life experience working with children who display challenging behaviors or special needs.
