Company OverviewThe Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with United Activities Unlimited, Inc. (UAU) to find qualified candidates for a Group Leader in Staten Island, NY. UAU provides comprehensive social services, educational support, enrichment activities, and workforce development programs designed to inspire, empower, and support individuals of all ages.Position OverviewThe Group Leader supports after-school programs including COMPASS, SONYC, Beacon, and Cornerstone by supervising youth ages 5 to 13 in a safe and engaging environment. This role focuses on leading activities that promote social, emotional, and academic growth while supporting daily program operations.This position is located in Staten Island, NY.Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide youth participants during daily activities and programs
  • Lead structured activities, games, and group sessions
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
  • Manage group behavior and address conflicts appropriately
  • Serve as a positive role model and encourage teamwork
  • Assist with planning and organizing program activities and events
  • Take attendance and monitor participant engagement
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and supervisors
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children ages 5-13
  • Experience in a classroom, daycare, or school-based setting preferred
