Job description

JOB PURPOSE
The Supervisor, Production is responsible for supervising daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance goals are achieved. This role oversees frontline employees, supports operational performance and workforce development, and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Production & Operational Performance Management (40%)
Oversee daily manufacturing operations to achieve production, labor efficiency, quality, scrap, spend, overtime, and operational performance goals.
2. Workforce Supervision & Employee Performance (30%)
Supervise and coordinate the activities of departmental employees to ensure effective staffing, performance, training, and adherence to operational expectations.
3. Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance (20%)
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, quality standards, and hazardous material handling requirements.
4. Equipment, Resource & Operational Support (10%)
Support operational reliability through oversight of equipment utilization, departmental resources, operational documentation, and preventive maintenance activities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversees daily operations to ensure standards and service levels are met.
2. Directly supervises team members, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance management.
3. Participates in hiring, onboarding, and training department employees.
4. Conducts performance evaluations and provides ongoing coaching and feedback.
5. Ensures compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
6. Supports employee engagement and retention strategies.
7. Leads implementation of small-scale process improvements to enhance team efficiency and service levels.
8. Monitors and analyzes team performance data to identify trends and inform staffing, workflow, and performance management decisions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or related experience, including prior leadership or supervisory experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing operations, production processes, and operational workflows
• Working knowledge of safety procedures, hazardous material handling requirements, and regulatory compliance standards
• Ability to manage employee performance and drive team accountability
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound operational decisions
• Ability to analyze operational data and support productivity and efficiency improvements
• Ability to work effectively across multiple levels of the organization
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout production areas
• Exposure to noise, heat, machinery, and industrial materials
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated production areas
• Frequent interaction with production employees, equipment, and operational processes
• May require schedule flexibility, including overtime and off-shift support based on operational needs
