Job description

Job Title: IS Project Manager
Location: Memphis, TN (Onsite one week per month)
Seniority on the skill/s required on this requirement: Senior

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Project Manager to manage complex infrastructure and development projects within a Research Information Services group supporting basic science research. This role supports project delivery involving High-Performance Computing (HPC) hardware installations, laboratory instruments, and cloud environments, with responsibility for coordinating deployments across both a main data center and Colocation (Colo) facilities. We are looking for someone with hands-on HPC installation experience in an on-prem data center setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex infrastructure and development projects supporting research operations.
  • Oversee projects involving HPC hardware installations, laboratory instruments, and cloud environments.
  • Coordinate deployments in both the main data center and Colocation (Colo) facilities.
  • Collaborate with executive stakeholders, front-line management, and system users through strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Apply change management skills to influence stakeholders and navigate trade-offs regarding scope and requirements.
  • Track and manage project progress using appropriate PM tooling.
  • Support DevOps-related projects and workflows as needed.

Requirements:
Core Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a related business or technical specialty.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant project management experience across multiple domains.
  • Active PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required.
  • Proven track record managing infrastructure installations, specifically involving HPC hardware and data center environments.
  • Direct experience managing DevOps-related projects and workflows.
  • Exceptional collaboration and presentation skills to interact with executive stakeholders, front-line management, and system users.
  • High level of professionalism and change management savvy to influence stakeholders and navigate scope/requirement trade-offs.
  • Local candidates in the Memphis area highly recommended and preferred; position requires one week onsite per month.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cloud technologies (Azure), Networking, Virtualization, and HPC environments.
  • Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to optimize project management workflows, or prior experience managing AI-related research projects.
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow PPM highly preferred for project tracking; familiarity with Azure DevOps or JIRA also valued.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum Alliance, SAFe) and experience leading Agile teams.
  • Background in a multi-disciplinary healthcare or academic research environment, specifically supporting healthcare informatics or basic science.
  • Strong business analysis skills, with ability to understand complex subject matter in a technical IT and research environment.
