Job description

S&P Global has recently announced the intent to separate our Mobility Segment into a standalone public company.
Role Summary
The Software Engineer, HR Applications will support, maintain, and enhance HR technology platforms, with a primary focus on Workday. This role partners with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, and IT teams to deliver stable operations, continuous improvements, integrations, and reporting that enable key HR processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Workday Support & Enhancements
  • Provide L2/L3 production support for Workday and related HR applications: incident triage, root-cause analysis, break/fix, and preventive actions.
  • Configure and enhance Workday business processes, security, calculated fields, condition rules, notifications, and data validation (based on access/role).
  • Partner with HR stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical designs, and deliver enhancements and process improvements.
  • Coordinate Workday releases: evaluate impact, execute regression testing, and plan/implement changes.

Integrations & Data
  • Support and enhance Workday integrations (inbound/outbound) with downstream/upstream systems (e.g., benefits, payroll vendors, IAM, learning, finance).
  • Monitor integration schedules, manage errors, perform reprocessing, and implement resiliency and alerting.
  • Collaborate on data quality, audits, reconciliation, and troubleshooting across HR systems.

Reporting & Analytics (as applicable)
  • Build and maintain Workday reports/dashboards; support operational and compliance reporting needs.
  • Optimize report performance and ensure appropriate data access via Workday security.

Quality, Delivery, and Operations
  • Write and maintain technical documentation (runbooks, SOPs, design notes, support guides).
  • Support SDLC practices: development, testing, change management, and post-deployment validation.
  • Drive continuous improvement of monitoring, automation, and support processes.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as a technical partner to HRIS and HR teams; communicate status, risks, and dependencies clearly.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to coordinate upgrades, patches, and issue resolution.

Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience supporting Workday in a production environment (HR/HRIS application support, enhancements, and troubleshooting).
  • Experience supporting one or more Workday functional areas such as HCM, Benefits, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll (or Payroll interfaces), Compensation, Security, Reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with system support processes (incident/problem/change management) and structured troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of data flows, integrations, and enterprise application ecosystems.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions; strong written/verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Workday integration technologies (any of the following): EIB, Core Connectors, Studio, REST/SOAP APIs, SFTP/file-based integrations.
  • Experience with Workday security concepts (e.g., role-based security, domain/business process security).
  • Familiarity with testing practices (test planning, regression testing, UAT coordination) and release management.
  • Scripting/automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and/or experience with monitoring/alerting tools.
  • Workday certifications (any relevant certification) are a plus.
