Company Summary
HDL Engineering Consultants, LLC (HDL) is a multidisciplinary engineering firm providing airport, geotechnical, civil, transportation and arctic engineering, environmental and earth science, surveying, and construction management services in Alaska, with offices in Anchorage and Palmer.
Position Summary
This position will manage and assist with a wide variety of projects including design of water and wastewater distribution and collection systems, pump stations, and storage and treatment facilities. Additional duties will include field investigations, system mater planning, engineering analyses and studies, preparation of reports, design documentation, and construction documents in both urban and rural environments throughout Alaska.
Required Job Qualification:
  • Licensed engineer in Alaska (or ability to obtain license within 6 months)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in water and wastewater system design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) and familiar with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Willing and able to travel throughout Alaska
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Essential Functions within the Role
  • Prepare feasibility studies, engineering reports, and construction plans and specifications.
  • Project management including leading design teams, tracking budgets, and client communication.
  • Investigate, develop and model water and wastewater projects; undertake and contribute to technical aspects of projects from feasibility to detailed design.
  • Participate in teams involved with project delivery through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering through construction closeout and operations.
  • Professional contact with clients, including presentation of project status and challenges, recommendations for problem resolution, and implementing directions from the client.

Work Environment
This position involves office and fieldwork. When working in an office setting this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This position may also be required to periodically occasionally climb, kneel or crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional, overnight, out of town travel is required.
