Job description

Overview

i3 is seeking a candidates to support systems engineering and modeling activities for Department of Defense customers. This position is located in Huntsville, AL. 

The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of Systems Engineering  and Systems Integration concepts and familiar with Army Acquisition Processes and Test and Evaluation Methods. Experience supporting PAE Fires is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must work well in a team and collaborative environment and must demonstrate strong written, communication, and presentation skills, attention to detail, and an eye for innovative ideas.

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of MBSE tools and techniques to support enterprise architecture development, requirements analysis and decomposition, system design and design verification, interface development, and verification/validation activities.

Tasks will include working with a team of engineers to develop and maintain models in a collaborative environment to support Integration, Planning, and Test activities at the Enterprise level. The candidate will also support mission engineering to develop integration plans, test plans and procedures, data analysis plans, and execution of models in simulation to conduct scenario-based analysis for the customer. The candidate is also expected to perform modeling tasks as required by the customer, including roadmap modeling, mission modeling, data modeling, verification and validation, and process definition. Knowledge of Systems Modeling Language (SysML 1.x) and the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF 1.1 & 1.2) is strongly preferred for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Provides Enterprise-level Systems Engineering support utilizing MBSE models and other digital engineering tools.
  • Participates in or leads the development of Enterprise roadmaps; System of systems integration plans; procedures and scenarios used in the conduct of software and hardware system integration testing
  • Performs analysis of integration results to assess system impacts.
  • Supports or leads interoperability studies in the context of inter- and intra-service data architectures.
  • Utilizes strong written, communication, and presentation skills, and works effectively in a team environment.
  • Reviews system engineering documentation and model artifacts to ensure accuracy.
  • Supports trade studies to support the selection preferred design solutions and course of action alternatives in project development/product delivery. Additionally, leads trade studies to support the selection of optimal capability configurations for mission scenarios.
  • Will include technical briefings and advisement to leadership on the status and recommended courses of action regarding model development, systems engineering processes, System of Systems integration, V&V, schedule shifts, and impacts on the mission.
  • Develops and maintains models using modeling languages such as Unified Modeling Language (UML), Systems Modeling Language (SysML), and Unified Architecture Framework (UAFML).
  • Contributes to the development of system and system of systems models and creates representations using data architectures and data models to facilitate interoperability.
  • Utilizes MBSE tools (e.g., Dassault Systemes MagicDraw and Teamwork Cloud) to support the traceability and analysis of requirements, system design and integration, system use cases, and enterprise capabilities, phases, and mission threads.
  • Analyzes and evaluates systems using MBSE artifacts and custom plugins.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of systems engineering and integration experience (MS may substitute for some years of experience).
  • 3+ years experience in supporting DoD programs
  • Demonstrated excellence in Offensive Fires programs and/or Air and Missile Defense programs, including command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR).
  • Demonstrated experience in multiple SE processes including but not limited to, requirement development/management, test planning, verification planning/tracking/compliance documentation, risk management, milestone review planning/execution, enterprise architecture development.
  • Demonstrated Stakeholder management and communication.
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills to include ability to uncover true requirements, recommend alternative solutions and approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet forward-leaning timelines.
  • Demonstrated individual contribution to the execution of multiple systems engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of system architecture development and the systems engineering process.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting development of SE&I task planning to support integration of complex, multi-discipline engineering design/build programs.
  • 3+ years of experience with various MBSE tools - Dassault Systemes Magic Draw, IBM Rhapsody.
  • Active US Secret Clearance.
