Job description

Description:

Each incoming class of students works with an academic success dean during their time as Central students. An academic success dean is the “go-to” person for academic advisors, coaches, or anyone on campus who has questions or concerns about any student. Academic success deans do not replace academic advisors but are a resource for academic advisors and for students who need additional or special advising. Academic success deans mentor students academically; provide academic counseling to students who are considering post-graduate work or changes to their academic programs; guide students through decisions about their majors; coordinate with Student Support Services, the Director of Writing, and Tutoring Coordinator to provide academic resources to students; work with professors regarding students’ extended absences or other special circumstances; and answer questions for students who don’t know whom they should seek for help. The office assistants will work with the academic success deans to maintain the office and ensure that student needs are met while working with potentially confidential information.

Duties:

  • Complete electronic filing of documents from academic success deans
  • Coordinate calendars of academic success deans as needed (or requested)
  • Perform other office duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Personable and pleasant
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Office software
  • Able to speak and understand English fluently
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must be awarded work study
  • Preference given to those able to work the full academic year
