Job Description SummaryStudent employees are a crucial part of the Athletics department. We depend on students to handle much of the daily work needed for our operations. If you are hired as an Athletic Student Worker, you will assist in various areas of the department based on your preferences. Your assigned tasks will depend on your commitment to the role. If you take the job seriously and view it as real-world experience, you will be given opportunities to grow and take on more responsibility.Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

The Athletic Department Student Worker will work in one of the areas listed below and may perform such duties, but are not limited to:

  • Athletic Communications - Handle in-game stats, broadcast operations for SSC Digital Network, graphic design, public address, office tasks, social media, and in-game activities, including working scoreboards, public address, field-level table work, running stats for coaches, and writing.
  • Sports Medicine - Manage laundry, stock supplies and inventory, set up and break down for all home game events and practices, and perform office tasks and cleaning (treatment tables, coolers, bottles, Gators, etc.).
  • Business Operations- Conduct budget reconciliation, manage inventory, prepare financial reports, and assist with team travel.
  • Compliance Office- Support the compliance department with office tasks such as data entry, filing, and scanning.
  • Game Operations and Facility Management- Set up and break down for home contests and events, oversee in-game event operations, and manage daily facility operations.
  • Tickets and Concessions- Sell tickets, concessions, and merchandise at all home games, prepare hot food for home events, and handle inventory and financial reporting.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Federal Work-Study is required. All qualifications below are not needed to apply:

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Office 365.
  • Awareness of general office skills and decorum is a plus.

Skills:

  • Dependable, able to prioritize and organize, multi-task, creative thinker, outgoing, reliable, punctual, willing, and able to take charge.
  • Experience with customer service.
  • Works well with others in individual and group settings.
  • Previous knowledge, training, or experience is preferred but not required.

Abilities:

  • Hours will vary depending on the area you are hired to work in. Most areas require working nights and weekends.
  • Some positions may require lifting objects up to 50 lbs., as well as bending and reaching.
  • Exposure to bad weather for extended periods may be necessary in some roles.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks and responsibilities at the same time.
  • Able to manage time and stress for yourself and others.
