Fire Sprinkler Service Technician / Fitter (RME-I Required)

What You'll Accomplish in Your First Year

  • Complete Apprenticeship Levels 1 and 2.
  • Earn your OSHA 10-Hour safety certification.
  • Master the fundamentals of pipefitting and confidently interpret complex installation drawings.
  • Develop a robust, working understanding of NFPA 13 standards and overall code compliance.

Key Responsibilities

System Installation & Assembly

  • Install overhead steel piping for diverse systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pump, standpipe, and hose systems, as well as residential CPVC and copper systems.
  • Cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe to exact engineered specifications.
  • Secure and assemble pipes and fixtures using brackets, clamps, welding, brazing, or cementing.

Underground & Valve Service

  • Install and service underground infrastructure, including private fire mains, hydrants, pits, and control valves.
  • Maintain and repair crucial system riser components such as alarm valves, dry pipe valves, and backflow preventers.

Testing & Compliance

  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, and meticulous visual observations to ensure absolute code compliance.

Role Requirements

License & Experience

  • License: Must possess a valid RME-I (Responsible Managing Employee - Inspector) license (Required).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in fire sprinkler fitting, inspection, and/or service.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Core Skills: Strong technical savviness and an appetite for continuous learning. Excellent active listening, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
