About Us
Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree-granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. MGA has five campuses-Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins, all located in central Georgia-and global outreach through its fully-online campus. Its enrollment of 8,400 students is largely comprised of students from most of Georgia's 159 counties. The University has six academic schools, including Georgia's flagship aviation program, that support its mission to educate and graduate inspired, lifelong learners whose scholarship and careers enhance the state.
Job Summary
The Center for Middle Georgia Studies seeks a motivated and detail-oriented student worker to assist with various research, administrative, and event planning tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in academic research, community engagement, and project management.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with research projects focused on the region
  • Organize and catalog archival materials
  • Help maintain databases of regional information
  • Support event planning for lectures, workshops, or conferences
  • Assist with social media and website updates
  • Transcribe interviews or historical documents
  • Conduct literature reviews on Middle Georgia topics
  • Help prepare reports or presentations
  • Assist Faculty Fellows, researchers or scholars
  • Support community outreach initiatives
  • Perform clerical or data entry tasks and file important documents accordingly.
  • Maintain all work areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintain his/her academic work load while handling a work study job opportunity.
  • Must be dependable and prompt.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Currently enrolled student at Middle Georgia State University for at least 6 credit hours
  • Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • A student worker must have knowledge of computers and different software programs.
  • Any prior job experience in an office environment is helpful, but not necessary.
  • Student is required to retain Family Education Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) confidentiality.
